Our Story

EVAN BELLINGAR – FOUNDER

Bellingar Estates began as my vision: to make a living farming, to spend the best part of my days outside and avoid getting a “real job” at all costs, and to build a legacy for my family.
Evan Bellingar, founder and visionary

Evan Bellingar, Founder & Visionary

That vision took me from Northwest Washington, where my family has been farmers, tradesmen, and rascals by turns, for over 100 years, to the Willamette Valley of Oregon.  The first stop was for schooling (and a wife! Thanks Kim!), then to manage vineyards, and now to put down roots.

I have been amazingly lucky to have designed, developed, and managed many of the finest vineyards in the state of Oregon, worked with dozens of amazing winemakers, and tasted wines that reminded me of what it meant to be alive. After more than a decade making artisanal wine in the garagiste style, the time came to take the leap to a grander enterprise. 2014 brought not only our first commercial vintage, but the latest generation of Bellingars, although it will be a few years before little Aria is tall enough to top barrels.

Oregon Pinot noir will always evoke magic for me. From tending mossy headed vines that are older than I am, to driving tractor by moonlight at harvest, to barrel tasting in the barns and garages of friends and  learning from some of the founders of the wine industry.  Winegrowing in Oregon is something special.

It is in this spirit that Kim and I hope to make the work of our hands the joy of your table. Enjoy with family, friends, food, or fireworks!

Kim Bellingar- Founder & Chief of All The Things

If you’ve ever met Evan, you know he’s two things: funny and persuasive.  The latter of those two (combined with a lot of wine and laughter) led me to jump into this crazy wine industry with him.  I graduated from Oregon State University with two honors degrees in Biology and Animal Sciences, a minor in Chemistry, a minor in Business, and an option in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.  Then, promptly threw all that out the window (except maybe business), and joined the team at Adelsheim Vineyard to learn how to run a winery.  Over the next 12 years, I was honored to serve as David Adelsheim’s right hand, earned my Masters in Business Administration from Portland State University in the evenings, and served as the Chief Operating Officer for Adelsheim for the last 7 years.

I retired from working a 9-5 job in January of 2020 to work 24/7 on opening the Bellingar Estates tasting room, as well as assist on the board of directors for the Willamette Valley Wineries Association, the founding of the Willamette Valley Wineries Foundation, and the Pacific Northwest Leadership Council for the Children’s Cancer Association.  In the abundance of other hours in the day, we are delighted to be raising our three small children on our farm, along with building lots of craft projects, tending a beautifully chaotic cut flower garden, and looking after some other random creatures that wander around.

KELLEY MORRIS – DIRECTOR OF HOSPITALITY & SALES

Kelley comes to Bellingar Estates by way of North Carolina. She and her husband took a great leap of faith in packing up 2 cars with three dogs, a bird, and a small sailboat in tow, driving across the country to launch a grand new chapter with us in the Willamette Valley! Kelley was, once upon a time, the youngest paramedic/firefighter in the Alexandria Virginia Fire Department’s history, where she met her now husband in the AFD rookie class. It took them 25 years to meet again, and they married 3 years ago in the barrel room of the small family-owned winery in the Greensboro, NC area, where she enjoyed working as their Tasting Room Manager for 5 years.

With two young adult children now independent and having their own adventures, Kelley enthusiastically has come to the PNW to further her wine and hospitality career. She is currently enrolled in the WSET Level 4/Diploma program after having successfully passed WSET Level 3 last year. Welcome Kelley to Bellingar Estates as our new Director of Hospitality and Sales, and come visit with her in our tasting room. Kelley looks forward to meeting you soon!
